Bassist and composer Santi Debriano leads Bembé Arktet, an ensemble that bridges Afro-Caribbean rhythms with adventurous modern jazz.

His ensemble, Bembé Arktet, is a boundary-crossing group that fuses traditional Afro-Caribbean and West African rhythmic concepts with contemporary jazz harmony and improvisational exploration. The word “Bembé” refers to an Afro-Cuban sacred gathering rich with drumming, dancing, and spiritual energy—a tradition that underscores the ensemble’s mission: to bring people together through rhythm and cultural resonance.
